Why Japan? Why Kyoto?
Why Kyoto
When we first started thinking about where to celebrate, we considered a few options—Colorado, Oregon, maybe British Columbia.
Then we remembered our trip to Japan a couple falls ago, and thought: could we make it work?
Japan made sense for so many reasons. Beyond the culture and the food, there's the attention to detail in everything—the temple gardens, the konbini on every corner, the late-night izakayas down quiet streets.
We both especially connected with Kyoto. It's a city where you can feel the history, where every alleyway has a story.
And of course, there's a personal reason — I (Clair) was born in Japan, and aside from my parents and brother, my family lives there. Japan has always been there, in the background of everything.
Every single person will be traveling in for this—from Canada, from the States, and family from Osaka and Nagoya. We know it isn't a small trip for anyone, and we're grateful for every one of you.
If you've never been to Japan, we can't wait to share it with you. If you have—you already know why we're doing this.
Thank you for being part of our story.
